Ingredients
For the dal
- 72 g Arhar dal, raw
- 3 g Salt
- 1 g Turmeric / haldi
For the tadka
- 2 g Cumin seed / jeera, whole
- 20 ml Cow Ghee
- 2 g Dried chillies, powdered
- 6 g Ginger, fresh, chopped finely
- 4 g Green chillies, chopped finely
To serve
- 72 g Onion, chopped
Instructions:
For the dal
- Wash arhar dal and add it to a pressure cooker along with turmeric and salt. Pressure cook the dal for 1-2 whistles or until cooked.
For the tadka
- In a pan, heat ghee until nearly smoking. Add hing and cumin seeds and allow the cumin to crackle.
- Add onions and cook until light golden. Add ginger, garlic, and green chilli and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, garlic, green chillies and red chilli powder and cook tor ~5 minutes, stirring frequently until the tomatoes are cooked through and the ghee separates.
To serve
- Transfer dal to a serving dish. Garnish with coriander. Serve hot.
