Makka Atta is made by stone-grinding whole dried corn kernels into a coarse, soft flour. It has a naturally sweet, comforting flavour and a warm, golden color that works beautifully in traditional rotlas, breads, porridge and winter dishes across India. Because it is a whole grain flour, it provides complex carbohydrates and dietary fibre that digest more steadily compared to refined flours.
Makka Atta is traditionally combined with a bit of warm water and ghee to make soft, wholesome rotlas, often paired with seasonal vegetables or dals for a complete and nourishing meal.
